CEREC same-day crowns allow patients to have dental crowns placed in a single visit. In the past, a dentist would need to make a temporary crown to protect a tooth, while a permanent one was made in a lab and then cemented to the tooth. With CEREC technology, our dentists at Allegra Dental Center: Nana Dickson, DDS, and Morgan Floyd, DMD, can design and create a crown right in the office, eliminating the need for an off-site lab or temporary restoration.
The CEREC system uses CAD/CAM technology to design and mill the crown out of porcelain material in just a few minutes. Once the crown is placed and bonded to the tooth, it is ready to restore function and appearance to the patient’s mouth.
The Procedure for CEREC Same-Day Crowns
The traditional dental crown process takes two appointments. During the first appointment, your crown will be designed using digital impressions and sent to the lab to be manufactured. A temporary is placed until your second dental visit, when the permanent crown is ready to be placed. With CEREC same-day crowns, the entire process can be completed in one day!
Using a unique milling unit and 3D technology, we can design your custom CEREC crown chairside. The precise measurements will be sent to our in-office milling machine, where the entire restoration will be created from a single block of ceramic material. Once the crown is finished, it will be polished to a natural shine and ready to be placed! There is no need to wear a temporary crown or wait weeks for your treatment to be completed.
The Advantages of CEREC Same-Day Crowns
Fast Results
Your restoration is completed in just one visit so you can leave our office with your new smile on the same day as your procedure. You do not have to schedule a second appointment, and there is no need for temporary restorations. Instead, CEREC technology is used to create your crown in minutes.
Natural-Looking Material
Porcelain can be tinted to match the shade of your natural enamel, leaving you with a completely natural smile.
Durability
The materials used to manufacture CEREC crowns are resistant to wear from chewing and biting. Your restoration will last for years with proper oral hygiene and regular checkups at our office.
Comfortable Fit
Digital impressions are taken of your bite to ensure a precise and comfortable fit for your dental crown. This customization results in better protection and overall oral health.
